Ah, the party favor bag. Filled with candy and trinkets that kids, and parents of kids, may or may not enjoy. Now, these can be great! But, that usually involves spending a pretty penny for higher quality items.
Want to know my trick for avoiding these altogether, without anyone feeling short changed?
Make the party activity/craft the take-home item! When done thoughtfully, this is the perfect solution!
Superhero party? Everyone gets to decorate their own personalized cape with their initial on it!
Fairy Princess party? Everyone decorates a magic wand that is theirs to keep.
Slumber Party? You could tie dye or decorate sleep shirts, pillow cases, reusable water cups, or sleeping eye masks.
Even decorating their own cupcakes or cookies. You can have little take-out boxes to take one home with them.
Get the idea? Whatever your party theme, think of some wearable or usable item the kids can help make.
Prepare the basic items ahead of time, with their name or initial. And set out all the decorating craft supplies to let the kids customize their unique favor.
Sometimes this is even something you were going to have at the party anyway – like getting all the kids magic fairy wands – but if you make it interactive, and especially if you can personalize with an initial or name, this creates the perfect party favor that will actually be loved and used for weeks to come.
